IC (Hiria > Blacksmith's Shop):Arvina had been swinging down from the building, her grappling hook attached magnetically to the metallic wall, when her swing had stopped. Except... it hadn't, really; she'd gotten the
impression of it stopping, only for a split-second, but now that she looked back that split-second seemed to blossom into a full half-minute.
The first time through she'd gotten a jumble of information through her ears:
"UPDATE2.00-allrahinowwillgiveyoukillpointsKPforshort-amountsofpointswillvaryfromRahitoRahi-pointnumbersareavailableintheblacksmith'sshop-theBlacksmith'sshophasbeencompletelyremadeinordertobeabletoservethelargeamountofcustomers-themallmanyofyouhavenoticedwillbeopenedsooninthenextupdate-nowresumeyourgame." At the time she hadn't bothered about it, because she hadn't noticed.
Then time had restarted, she'd swung down to the ground without any noticeable change in balance or momentum, and she had landed on the ground where she now stood, that split-second multiplying itself by two hundred forty in her mind to come out to an even thirty seconds, as did the announcement:
"UPDATE 2.00: All Rahi now will give you kill points, KP for short. Amounts of points will vary from Rahi to Rahi. Point numbers are available in the blacksmith's shop. The Blacksmith's shop has been completely remade in order to be able to serve the large amount of customers. The mall many of you have noticed will be opened soon, in the next update. Now, resume your game."She shook her head in confusion. Virtual Reality, she decided, was weird, especially the announcements part of it. But at least killing Rahi gave you points. Great; she'd get revenge on the Lohrak for what their cousin did and be rewarded for it.
Idly, she wished she had brought some sunglasses. They wouldn't help her any, but at least she'd look all cool.
The communicator sat piningly on her wrist. She glanced at it, remembered you were supposed to be able to activate it mentally, and decided to go to the Blacksmith's shop to check out the point lists.
"All right," she said aloud, hoping this would channel her thoughts correctly. "I am going to the Blacksmith's. Yeah. Right."
Then she closed her eyes and took a step forward--
--gravity disappeared, her body was warped, an unseen flash imprinted itself upon the Vortixx's retinas--
Her foot struck ground; she stumbled a bit; her eyes came open as she straightened with all the dignity she could muster.
Yes, this was indeed the Blacksmith's shop. The stone counter ran along one wall, stretching down to the other side of the room, which measured at least a good hundred meters. Weapons of all sorts hung on the walls, framed by dull timberwolf, their sharp points gleaming in the light that came through the doorway into the Waiting Room. She whistled, impressed, as she stepped up to the counter.
There was a computer there, touch-screen; stepping up to it, giving the instructions beside a passing glance, and mentally scoffing -- she
knew how to use a computer! -- she hit the button labeled "Pull Up Rahi Points List".
Then she hit "Input Complaint" and typed,
A preposition shouldn't be capitalized in a title unless it is the first word. PLEASE FIX IMMEDIATELY.Now Arvina went back to the Rahi points list. Using the rather handy search feature (apparently whoever programmed this computer wasn't
all bad), she searched for "Lohrak".
There. It wasn't very far down the list: a lot of other Rahi also had only two kill points. But then, the highest amount at the moment was three KPs. Not much, Arvina thought with a small shake of her head; so whoever saved her wouldn't be getting too much. Frostelus... what were they? At any rate they didn't live on Xia, or Arvina would have heard of them.
She stepped back and looked around, wondering how much it cost to get weapons. Was the Blacksmith here?
Well, there
was that weird, green, stooped, spiny creature-person-thing standing maybe ten meters down. Maybe he -- or she? who knew? -- knew where the Blacksmith was.
"Hey! You!" she called, walking toward him. "You the Blacksmith?"
OOC: Just so you know, Zar, I'm not pointing out any grammatical mistake of yours; I made up the capitalized preposition in the button title. I just thought it'd be funny and allow Arvina's condescending nature to come up again.
Also, Mango! -- that "weird, green, stooped, spiny creature-person-thing" is you. Interested in interacting with Arvina? Be warned: She can be a real jerk. But at least you might be able to get some angst out of your system.
